One of the most beautiful parts of the Wackelsteinfestival - making it happen. Each year it is wonderful to behold what can be done and reached with a little bit of valor, some good friends and many people willing to help. It is all too easy to have dreams but it that first log one lifts, that first shovel one grabs in order to convey a sense of presence and solidness to these dreams.
On the Thursday before the festival it has become a kind of tradition that, on the evening, you let our work rest to get the mood for the festival during a session. Sometimes many come, sometimes it is a smaller but still lively crowd, but up to now we had a great evening every single time. This year it was as enchanting as in the best of times, and we thank everybody who joined us for the first pretaste of the festival. Unfortunately, it seems there exist no photos of this evening - one more reason to keep it firmly in our memories.
This year the first day was overwhelming, and that turned out to be exactly what was needed because the second day we nearly drowned in rain. Thanks to all that came! Up to then the weather was still wonderful, the mood was at its best, and I think everybody had a great time.
All of us had hoped that the weather might continue being okay but, for the first time in four years, we had bad luck: the doors of heaven opened and it buckets full of rain kept pouring down on us. We decided to relocate several events during the day to some try places, and we had to cancel the open stage. With respect to the main program we wanted ot wait until the last moment. Were the rain not to stop before half past four, we would relocate the festival to the old sports hall. It stopped raining at four, and we were going along with full steam. Many of you were part of it - again: thank you for sticking with us!
During the morning we were a bit anxious again because it had started to rain again during the night. In time before the first band, however, the rain stopped, and the weather finally refrained from taunting us. The hard part was behind us, and Sunday became a glorious last day of an exciting festival.
