| Open-Air Folk Festival in the Woodquarter This was the Wackelsteinfestival 2009. Around the Wackelstein of Amaliendorf, for the fourth time together we coaxed the stones into singing. Here, you can enjoy photos taken at the festival and rejoice in remembrance of three wonderful days we spent together sheltered by the fir trees bending low over us - listening in on the music.
Unfortunately, the festival will not take place again until further notice.
2009 brought us an exceedingly negative balance, there are problems with the funding we usually got from the local government, and it is not easy for us to always find the time yet again that is necessary to keep the Wackelsteinfestival up and running. Time will show whether we will organize the festival again in one of the coming years - we certainly hope so.
Thanks to all who came, to all who helped us so willingly to make the Wackelsteinfestival into an enchanting experience for everybody involved. |

Welcome to the Wackelsteinfestival. In 2009 it will take place for the fourth time. A few more days of waiting and the show will be on once more. Over the last days the weather changed from moderate to okay to wonderful and we expect it to improve still further. When you come you will find sunshine and great music. We hope you will enjoy the atmosphere and band line-up as much as you did the last three times. Information where you can get tickets you will find here.
Time is passing swiftly, the preparations are nearing the finish, and we are all eagerly awaiting the upcoming festival. Drop by here from time to time to be up to date with how we are getting along with the preparations - but first and foremost: come to the Wackelstein and rock with us until the stones start singing.
As every year we are, of course, keenly looking for volunteers. There are still places available - so, if you would like to help us to make this year's festival another lasting experience, contact us, and together we will put a smile on the audience's faces.
You can find photos of the past festivals here - have fun looking through them. If you should have additional photos, let us know - we would be delighted.
For Bands: if you want to send us demos for the fifth Wackelsteinfestival (2010), best start to do so from September 2009 - our address you'll find here.
Thanks to all the volunteers, the firefighters of Amaliendorf and to the mayor of Amaliendorf, who helped making the third Wackelsteinfestival as special as the prior festivals. The blissful memories of it stay with us, the warm tingling in the belly, and the anticipation of the next festival. We hope you feel the same way.
What you can expect:
By now it's probably not applicable anymore to call the festival small, but we try to keep the festival at a comfortable size. What distinguishes the Wackelsteinfestival is the friendly and familiar atmosphere, a scenery that could not be more beautiful, and, of course, fine music.
Although there will again be exciting international acts, we always endeavor to get the best out of our surroundings before we start looking for alternatives in other countries. You don't have to fly in bands from America or Australia - the goal is great music not big names, and there is a multitude of extraordinary good bands in Austria and its neighboring countries. Especially the east is full of great bands, a fact we've already made the most of during the last years.
For the vegetarians among us we provide a vegetarian booth that was very well received during the last years where you'll be able to feast on various treats. We will adapt the menu a bit this year - naturally, we will only change things to the better.
All the other things you can expect - well, you'll see at the festival...
